1. Jollain keinoin se on jokaisen meistä kannukset hyvä hankkia.
2. Rockin pyörteissä kannuksensa ansainnut laulaja joutui vuosia sitten keksimään itsensä uudelleen jätettyään lopulliset hyvästit elämänsä alkoholinhuuruiselle puoliskolle.
does it have different meanings in this two cases?

'Kannukset' is 'spurs' in English. I'd say that the meaning is the same in those two example sentences.
hankkia = to acquire
ansaita = to earn

now it makes sense, cause I was really cofused, as just "spurs" was a nonsense!!
